Reminder—Nominations Open for Member-Selected Directors
Interested in serving on the Academy Board? A reminder that nominations are open for 2025 member-selected directors to the Academy’s 21-person Board. There are three openings this year to join the Academy Board and its six other member-selected directors. These three directors will be selected by Academy members later this year in an online selection process from a slate of candidates presented by the Nominating Committee. Nominations are open through May 19. For more information, visit the nominations page.
National Volunteer Week—Academy Thanks Our Volunteers
In celebration of National Volunteer Week, the Academy would like to thank our many volunteers who contribute their expertise and insights, playing a crucial role in advancing the actuarial profession.

This new webinar series aims to equip new members with an overview of essential Academy tools, including the learning management system, through which you can access the Academy’s extensive library of live and on-demand educational content, and the Career Center, with free resources to advance your career. ABCD Releases Annual Summary of Activities
The Actuarial Board for Counseling and Discipline (ABCD) released its 2024 Annual Summary of Activities, outlining its activities last year—handling 108 cases, which included 96 requests for guidance (RFGs) and 12 inquiries. The ABCD also conducted 20 presentations, both virtually and in person, for actuarial organizations, annual conferences, and firms. Of note, ABCD members Al Beer and Cande Olsen conducted a well-received mid-year webinar on the RFG service. The report also details additional outreach and engagement efforts, along with examples of cases handled.

Professionalism Webinar Covers New ERM ASOP No. 58
Friday’s professionalism webinar, The New ERM ASOP: What You Need to Know, featured ASB Enterprise Risk Management(ERM) Committee Chairperson David Paul, along with members Tony Dardis and Elisabetta Russo. They walked through the new Actuarial Standard of Practice (ASOP) No. 58, Enterprise Risk Management, which takes effect May 1 and will replace ASOP Nos. 46 and 47, which currently provide guidance for actuaries involved in ERM. A replay will be available soon on Academy Learning.

Hotel Discount Extended for Insurance Investment Summit
The room-block discount for the Academy’s Insuring the Future: Insurance Investment Summit in New York has been extended through May 1. The room block arranged by the Academy allows attendees the option to extend their stay at the Times Square Marriott Marquis Hotel and enjoy New York City through the Memorial Day weekend. May Life Webinar to Examine ASOP No. 2
Mark your calendar for next month’s webinar, ASOP No. 2 Practice Note. Presenters will be members of the Life Practice Council’s Non-Guaranteed Elements Subcommittee, who will provide a comprehensive discussion of the key points included in the recently released ASOP No. 2 practice note, which deals with non-guaranteed elements in life insurance and annuity products. It’s set for May 14—register today.

The P&C Committee on Equity and Fairnesssubmitted comments to the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI) on the exposed template of the DOI’s upcoming data call on private passenger auto insurance as part of the implementation of CO SB21-169 – Protecting Consumers from Unfair Discrimination in Insurance Practices.
