46th Actuarial Research Conference (SOA)
Location: Storrs, Connecticut
The Actuarial Science Program of the University of Connecticut’s Department of Mathematics proudly hosts the 46th Actuarial Research Conference in Storrs, CT on August 11, 12, 13, 2011. Every summer the conference brings together North America’s actuarial academic community (and some colleagues from further afield.) Informal networking abounds. Formal sessions showcase the latest advances at the research frontiers of actuarial science, and the researchers young and old who accomplish it. The theme this year is “Connecting Theory with Practice.” We urge practicing actuaries to join the academics. As attendees, practitioners can learn first-hand what their profession’s academic researchers are thinking about. As presenters they perhaps can return the favor by showing academics what practitioners would prefer researchers to be thinking about.
If you want to present your research to the conference, you can make a formal presentation to an audience (20 or 30 minutes) or you can put up a poster presentation that attendees can peruse at their leisure. Sign up to make a presentations by June 30, 2011 at the latest. To do so, first register for the conference and tell us the title of your presentation when the registration site asks you. If you are already registered and want to tell us the title of your presentation, log in to the registration site and edit the “other logistics” section of your registration. There you will be able to scroll down and tell us your title. Follow the same process when you are ready to upload an abstract, which should be done by Thursday July 21 for inclusion in the conference abstract book. You can also have your entire paper or presentation made available on the conference website if you email it to Jie Zhou after you have submitted your abstract and before Wednesday August 3, 2011.
If you are interested in sponsoring or making contributions towards the funding of this conference, please email Jim Bridgeman. Please come visit this website from time to time. We will update this site continually as conference details evolve.
