Board Selection Process Concludes
Thank you to all the Academy members who made selections for the three candidates for open member-selected director positions on the Academy Board of Directors. The process wrapped up Wednesday night, Sept. 20, with 1,570 selection ballots cast. The newly elected directors will be Lena Black, Donna Megregian, and Maambo Mujala. All of the terms will begin after the Academy’s Annual Meeting of the membership on Nov. 13.

Online Selection of Academy Board Member-Selected Directors Underway
Members’ selection of Academy Board Member-Selected Directors kicked off Sept. 6 and will run for two weeks. All Academy members eligible as of the Aug. 18 selection eligibility cutoff date should have received selection ballots via email following a previous email from the Academy’s election vendor Intelliscan (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The nominees to be member-selected directors, who will serve three-year terms, are:
- Lena Black, a member of the Pension Practice Council (PPC), chairperson of the Pension Committee, and a member of the Research Committee.
- Donna Megregian, a member of the Life Practice Council (LPC), chairperson of the Life Products Committee and of the ASB’s Reinsurance Pricing Task Force.
- Maambo Mujala, a member of the LPC, chairperson of the Variable Annuity Reserves and Capital Subcommittee, and vice chairperson of the Non-Guaranteed Elements Subcommittee.

Academy Board Nominees Announced
The Nominating Committee reported on the slate of three individuals nominated to serve as member-selected directors on the Board, with three-year terms beginning in November. They are noted above. Candidacies for member-selected director candidates, who will begin their terms on the Board at the conclusion of the Academy’s annual meeting in November, will be available for online selection by the membership later this summer.
The nominating process is designed to bring to the Board member-selected director candidates with an ability and willingness to serve the Academy, demonstrated by their prior volunteer service. The entire slate of new directors was chosen to provide a balanced distribution across practice areas and business affiliations in accordance with the Nominating Committee Guidelines.

Nominate Academy Member-Selected Directors
Nominations will be accepted beginning April 21 for Academy member-selected directors, who will serve three-year terms on the Academy’s Board of Directors. Nominations will be due by May 31. The Nominating Committee will meet soon to identify new candidates in accordance with Nominating Committee Guidelines criteria. Member-selected director candidates will be selected by Academy members later in 2023 in an online selection process from the slate of candidates presented by the Nominating Committee.
