The Academy’s board of directors received the report of the Governance Task Force at the board’s Oct. 5, 2010, meeting. The board thanked the members of the task force for their work and disbanded the group. In performing its work, the Governance Task Force was guided by this mission:

The Governance Task Force has been established to review, analyze, and recommend improvements on the Academy’s governance structure, to fulfill the Academy’s mission and strategic plan. Task force members represent a broad cross-section of practice in the profession. The task force is a presidential committee tasked with examining governance issues of concern to its membership and its publics. The task force will examine structure, function, and process; assessing each as to their effectiveness and appropriateness in supporting the mission and goals of the Academy. The task force will gather information, analyze it, and make specific recommendations to the board of directors.
