How can your old electronics support math education through the work of The Actuarial Foundation (TAF)? By upcycling your used electronics through the American Academy of Actuaries’ charitable donation program, you can transform these items into your own tax-deductible gifts. You’ve given new life to your old electronics, kept toxic waste out of landfills, and made an investment in a program that aims to enhance math education and financial literacy through the talents and resources of actuaries. Through this program, you can safely and easily dispose of items that contain personal information. Your individual donation can make an impact. Companies are welcome to participate as well. Virescent Inc. provides customized flyers and can answer any questions about the program.

Individuals can participate by:
  • Donating your used consumer electronics through individual donation and mailing.
  • Joining with your friends and family if they have any items to donate.
  • Encouraging colleagues to consider donating.

While we will accept other phones and items, the items with the most upcycle value currently are:
  • iPhones: 6, 6S, 7, 7S, & 8
  • Samsung Galaxy: S6, S7, S8 & S8 Plus, Galaxy Note
  • LG: G6, V30, & V20
  • Motorola: E4, G5, & Z2 Play

Companies can participate too, by:
  • Retiring corporate electronic equipment through the program.

Security and data destruction with customizable and accountable measures can be established for company compliance requirements.
