Update on the Academy's Principles-Based Initiative
Life webcast

This event, which follows the NAIC spring meeting, is part of a series of webcasts on the Life Practice Council's effort to develop a principles-based approach for regulating life reserves and capital. It will include discussion of principles-related developments at the NAIC meeting, and will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. (Eastern time).
Registration
The registration fee is $160 for Academy members and $200 for non-members. Registration is closed.
Speakers
- Donna Claire, chair of the Risk Management and Financial Soundness Committee (also called the SVL2 Steering Committee), which is overseeing the Academy project
- Mike Boerner, a member of the C3 Phase 2 Work Group and managing actuary at the Texas State Department of Insurance
- Tom Campbell, chair of the Variable Annuity Reserve Work Group, which has developed a new reserving methodology for variable annuities
- Larry Gorski,vice chair of the Life Practice Council, vice chair of the Life Capital Adequacy Subcommittee, and chair of the Economic Scenario Work Group
- Tom Kalmbach, co-chair of the Academy's Life Reserves Work Group
CE credit
CE credit. The Academy believes, in good faith, that the March 2007 "Update on the Academy's Principles-Based Initiative" webcast qualifies as a "recognized organized activity" under the Qualification Standards for Prescribed Statements of Actuarial Opinion currently in effect.
Attendance at the the March 2007 "Update on the Academy's Principles-Based Initiative" webcast may earn the participant 1 or more continuing education credits under the Qualification Standards for Prescribed Statements of Actuarial Opinion, depending upon the participant's practice area and other requirements set forth therein.
PD credit. Webcast participants may earn 1.5 professional development credits from the SOA.
