This 90-minute webcast includes a discussion of principles-related developments at the NAIC summer meeting. It is part of a series of webcasts on the Life Practice Council's efforts to develop a principles-based approach for regulating life reserves and capital.

  • Donna Claire, chairperson of the Risk Management and Financial Soundness Committee (also called the SVL2 Steering Committee), which is overseeing the Academy project
  • Mike Boerner, a member of the C3 Phase 2 Work Group and managing actuary at the Texas State Department of Insurance
  • Tom Campbell, chairperson of the Variable Annuity Reserve Work Group, which has developed a new reserving methodology for variable annuities
  • Tom Kalmbach, co-chairperson of the Academy's Life Reserves Work Group

CE credit

Participation in the June 20, 2007, webcast may earn the participant up to 1.8 continuing education credits under the Qualification Standards for Prescribed Statements of Actuarial Opinion, depending upon the participant's practice area and other requirements set forth therein. The Academy believes, in good faith, that the June 20, 2007, webcast qualifies as a “Recognized Organized Activity” under the Qualification Standards for Prescribed Statement of Actuarial Opinion currently in effect.
