This 90-minute webcast includes a discussion of principles-related developments at the NAIC winter meeting. It is part of a series of webcasts on the Academy’s efforts to help develop a principles-based approach for regulating life reserves and capital.

About the webcast

The webcast will cover the latest developments of Principles-Based Reserving at the Life and Health Actuarial Task Force, including:

  • The status of the Standard Valuation Law and proposed supporting manual
  • Projected timelines for the principles-based approach
  • Updates from LHATF's PBA Subgroups for Life, Reporting & Review, Reinsurance, Health, Experience Reporting, and Process and Coordination on their drafting and revision efforts

Speakers

The speakers will be members of LHATF who are chairing the LHATF groups that are looking at various aspects of the Standard Valuation Law and Valuation Manual, and who have led Academy efforts to provide the initial recommendations to LHATF. The speakers include:

CE credit

Participation in the Dec.18, 2007, webcast may earn the participant up to 1.8 continuing education credits under the Qualification Standards for Prescribed Statements of Actuarial Opinion, depending upon the participant's practice area and other requirements set forth therein. The Academy believes, in good faith, that the Dec. 18, 2007, webcast qualifies as a “Recognized Organized Activity” under the Qualification Standards for Prescribed Statement of Actuarial Opinion currently in effect.
