Principles-based update 10

This 90-minute webcast includes a discussion of principles-related developments at the NAIC spring meeting. It is part of a series of webcasts on the Academy’s efforts to help develop a principles-based approach for regulating life reserves and capital.

The registration fee is $160 for Academy members and $200 for non-members. Registration is closed.

About the webcast

The webcast will cover the latest principles-based reserving (PBR) developments at the NAIC's Life and Health Actuarial Task Force (LHATF), including:

  • The status of the draft Standard Valuation Law as it moves closer to possible adoption by LHATF
  • Updates on recent revisions in the proposed new valuation manual by LHATF's PBR Subgroups for Life, Reporting and Review; Reinsurance; Health; Experience Reporting; and Process and Coordination
  • Next steps and timelines for the proposed Standard Valuation law and valuation manual
  • An overview of the work of the new Corporate Governance Subgroup of the NAIC PBR (EX) Working Group

Speakers

Most of the speakers chair LHATF subgroups that are looking at various aspects of the draft Standard Valuation Law and proposed valuation manual. Many of the speakers also led Academy efforts to provide the initial recommendations for the PBR framework to the NAIC.

CE credit

The American Academy of Actuaries believes in good faith that the "Principles-Based Update 10" webcast constitutes an organized activity as defined under the current Qualification Standards for Actuaries Issuing Statements of Actuarial Opinion in the United States.

Under these Qualification Standards, an hour of continuing education is defined as 50 minutes and fractions of an hour may be counted.
