Life Practice Council webcast

The Academy's Life Practice Council will present its fourth update on the Academy's principles-based initiative on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, from noon until 1:30 p.m. (Eastern).

Registration

Registration is closed.

Fees:The standard registration fee for the 90-minute webcast is $200. Academy members receive a discount, and may register for $160. The registration fee is waived for government actuaries and for reporters.

About the webcast

The webcast's speakers include two regulators who have been key forces in the principles-based initiative. The webcast also includes:

  • Discussion of the role of principles-based peer review and of potential changes in governance to accommodate a principles-based regulatory approach
  • A summary of the September meeting of the NAIC's Life and Health Actuarial Task Force (LHATF)
  • A review of Life Reserves Work Group and Variable Annuity Reserves Work Group activities

  • Mike Boerner, Texas Department of Insurance managing actuary and chair of the Academy's Life Valuation Law and Manual Team

CE credit

Webcast participants can earn 1.5 Academy continuing education credits and 1.5 SOA professional development credits.
