If you are an actuary who writes P/C loss reserve opinions, then make plans to attend the Academy's 2010 P/C Effective Loss Reserve Opinion Seminar: Tools for the Appointed Actuary on November 17 & 18. This annual seminar will educate you about regulations and standards applicable in drafting loss reserve opinions. Led by top company, consulting, and regulatory actuaries, this seminar will focus on regulatory and professionalism concepts and cover a variety of topics, including:
- Accepting an opinion assignment
- Documentation
- Point estimates, ranges, and management's best estimate
- Disclosing risk of material adverse deviation
- Dealing with difficult situations
Day 1: The first day covers a variety of foundational topics, including report-writing, data and documentation, regulatory issues, and special topics.
Day 2: The second day focuses on more advanced topics, such as reserve ranges, new and revised ASOPs, and significant risk of material adverse deviation.
Attendance is limited to ensure that participants have the opportunity to actively engage and take concrete skills back to their employers.
New this year! Registered attendees can anonymously submit questions about preparing property-casualty loss reserve opinions prior to the seminar. Your questions will help drive seminar content and may be addressed during a panel discussion featuring experienced company and consulting actuaries. Submit your questions!
