Principles-based reserving:
Non-variable annuities

The Academy’s Annuity Reserve Work Group (ARWG) is working to develop principles-based reserving methods for all types of fixed (i.e., non-variable) annuities in the United States. In this regard, it is the annuity counterpart to the Life Reserve Work Group, which is developing similar reserving methods for life insurance products.
