The International Actuarial Association [1]
Founded in 1895, the International Actuarial Association (IAA) is the worldwide association representing local professional actuarial associations and their individual actuaries. The IAA exists to encourage the development of a global profession, acknowledged as technically competent and professionally reliable, which will ensure that the public interest is served.
The International Actuarial Association (IAA) consists of actuarial associations domestically and abroad. During its twice yearly meeting, members discuss developments in a myriad of issues including professionalism, insurance accounting/regulation, pensions, and educational standards of the profession.
The Council of U.S. Presidents has tasked the Academy to take the lead in coordinating the U.S. work with the IAA, while each U.S. actuarial organization makes its own decisions regarding IAA policy matters. The Academy ensures that there is adequate coverage at each IAA Committee during the meetings and convenes meetings of all Academy Committee delegates and another of the Council delegates of the U.S.-based associations to facilitate discussion and comment on timely and relevant topics during each IAA meeting.
There is a wealth of information on the IAA website. Members of the Academy and others interested in actuarial issues and policies are encouraged to explore the IAA site by clicking here [2].
