Webcast CD

The Academy’s second-ever webcast about principles-based life reserving and RBC is now available on a CD. It includes up-to-date information on the Spring 2006 NAIC meeting and the Life Practice Council’s principles-based project.
Ordering the CD
This CD contains the complete March 22nd audio presentation, Q&A, and accompanying PowerPoint slides in a single file. The price is $25 for government actuaries, $100 for Academy members, and $125 for all others. Only Academy members may order online. Anyone may order by fax or mail, including Academy members who prefer a paper-based transaction.

- Discussion of the role of peer review
- Discussion of potential changes in insurance-company governance to accommodate principles-based approaches to reserve and solvency testing
- A summary of developments during the Spring 2006 NAIC meeting

Webcast speakers
The webcast has four speakers:
- Donna Claire, Chair of the Risk Management and Financial Soundness Committee (also called the SVL2 Steering Committee), which is overseeing the Academy project
- David Neve, Co-chair of the Life Reserve Work Group, which has developed a regulation and accompanying proposed actuarial guideline for a new reserve methodology for life insurance products
- Tom Campbell, Chair of the Variable Annuity Reserve Work Group, which has developed a new reserving methodology for variable annuities
- Shirley Shao, Chair of the Regulatory Interface, Governance, and Peer Review Work Group
