I am pleased to inform you that for the second year in a row the Academy Board voted to keep next year’s dues at the same level. The Academy’s membership has grown each year for the last five years, and the Academy remains in a strong financial position, as you can see in the audited financials posted on the Academy website (http://www.actuary.org/files/fin_11.pdf).
Your membership supports the valuable work of the Academy to assure actuarial professionalism and involvement by the profession in important public policy issues.
The Academy’s 2012 Record provides a detailed review of how the Academy performed during the past year. I encourage you to spend some time with it to see how far-reaching the Academy’s 2012 work on behalf of the profession and the public interest has been.
In 2013, the Academy will continue to provide objective, non-partisan input into these important endeavors to recommend the key elements needed for sustainable designs to address public and private insurance program needs. In addition, in 2013 and the years ahead, we expect to see an increasing focus by the Academy on a host of critical professionalism issues, to assure that appropriate practice established through standards is made well known through communication and discussion within and outside of the profession.
A valuable benefit of Academy membership is free and unlimited access to the Council on Professionalism’s entire—and growing—library of professionalism webinars. They date back to September 2007 and feature recognized experts in actuarial professionalism. Academy members can earn sought-after professionalism continuing education (CE) credits by listening to these pre-recorded webinars; these credits can be applied towards the annually required three hours of CE on professionalism topics, as detailed in the U.S. Qualification Standards (Section 2.2).
We want and need your support in 2013 in the form of your annual dues and, we hope, through your active participation in the committees and workgroups that make all of our work on behalf of the profession and the public interest possible.

INSTRUCTIONS TO PAY ONLINE
The Academy offers two ways by which you can pay your dues on line, or if you prefer, you can print a copy of your dues notices and send it with either a check or credit card information.
To simply pay your dues without logging in to the members-only section of the Academy website, click this link to go to a secure payment site. You can make your credit card payment on this site, but you will not be able to modify any of your member information.
You also can pay your dues and review and modify your membership information. To do this, go to the dues page of the Academy website: http://www.actuary.org/members/.
Log in with your user ID and password, and follow the instructions to pay your dues. While you are logged in to the Academy website, you can update your contact information, change your password, or access any of the Academy’s members-only content.
