  • Actuaries at more than 1,800 sites focused on the future for healthcare reform in a July 11 Academy webinar, Health Care Reform after the Supreme Court—An Actuarial Perspective. The profession is continuing its focus on identifying ways to reduce health care costs while ensuring quality and access. Download the free webinar slides and audio recording.

Upcoming Events

  • Oct. 15: Academy’s Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon. Stuart Rothenberg, Political Analyst and Editor, will deliver the keynote address at this year’s luncheon (held in conjunction with the Society of Actuaries annual meeting). The luncheon is included in your registration if you are attending the SOA meeting. Academy members who are not attending the SOA meeting may purchase a ticket for $70.
  • Sept. 11–12: Life PBR—Test Drive the New VM-20 Seminar. Work hands-on with the new reserving requirements in VM-20 and apply them to real-life examples.
  • Nov. 12–15: Life and Health Qualifications Seminar. Do you meet the specific knowledge requirements set forth in the U.S. Qualification Standards to issue actuarial opinions for either the NAIC Life and A&H Annual Statement or the NAIC Health Annual Statement?   • The P/C Risk-Based Capital Committee sent a letter to the Solvency Modernization Initiative RBC Subgroup concerning research on potential improvements to the NAIC’s P/C RBC framework.
  • Academy Senior Life Fellow Nancy Bennett delivered comments on modernizing and improving the system of U.S. insurance regulation and oversight at NCOIL’s Summer Meeting. Bennett took part in a roundtable, States and the FIO: What Will the Report Mean for Insurance Regulation?
