  • Several work groups of the Life Practice Council submitted reports to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), including a report regarding the expected application of the federal income tax reserve rules to those life insurance companies that elect to use the three-year statutory transition provision for Life Principle-Based Reserves; an update on the development of new mortality tables; and a summary of public policy issues associated with life and annuity nonforfeiture reform.

Upcoming Events

  • The Academy will present a briefing, Pension Risk and Your Retirement, on Capitol Hill on April 4. Presenters will address the risks inherent with retirement plan designs and the implications for retirement planning and public policy.
  • The Academy's Life Practice Council will review the NAIC Spring National Meeting in a live 90-minute webinar on April 14. The Post-NAIC Update/PBA webinar also will include updates regarding the principle-based approach practice note, as well as the Valuation Manual-20 impact study.
