Social Security Reform: What Should the Reform Commission Do?

About 150 policy-makers and others attended the Academy's May 7 Hill briefing, which was televised live by C-SPAN. The briefing focused on the need to reform Social Security and various options for reform.
The speakers were Estelle James, a member of President Bush's newly created Social Security commission; Peter Orszag, previously a special assistant to former President Clinton; Steve Robinson, staff director of the Senate Finance Social Security subcommittee; Bruce Schobel, chairman of the Academy's Committee on Social Insurance; and Ron Gebhardtsbauer, the Academy's senior pension fellow.
